Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I need a driver for an old, but working HP PSC-1610v.  I have used it as a scanner and it works well, but I no longer have the CD-ROM and the HP website doesn't let me download the driver.  This is a remote desktop, using Windows 7 and it not normally hooked up to the internet.

Hi @RaiderFive1 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the HP PSC 1610 driver for your Windows 7 (64-bit) remote desktop, even without a CD-ROM or direct internet access:

Downloading the Driver:

  1. Find a computer with internet access: You'll need a separate computer with internet access to download the driver.
  2. Go to the HP Support website: Visit the HP support page for the PSC 1610 printer: https://support.hp.com/lv-en/drivers/hp-psc-1600-all-in-one-printer-series/model/390316
  3. Download the Driver:
    • Click on "Download drivers and software."
    • Under "Operating System," select "Windows 7 (64-bit)."
    • Click "Download" next to the "Full Driver and Software Package."
    • Save the downloaded file (usually a .exe file) to a USB flash drive or other removable media.

Transferring the Driver to the Remote Desktop:

  1. Connect the USB drive to the remote desktop: Once the driver is downloaded, insert the USB drive containing the driver file into the remote desktop.
  2. Run the Driver Installer: Open the USB drive on the remote desktop and double-click the downloaded driver installer file (usually named something like "hp_psc_1610_full_driver.exe").
  3. Follow the Installation Wizard: The HP installation wizard will guide you through the driver installation process.
    • Important: During installation, you might be prompted to connect the printer to the computer. If this happens, you can temporarily skip this step and connect the printer later after the driver installation is complete.

Additional Tips:

  • Antivirus/Firewall: If you have antivirus or firewall software running on the remote desktop, temporarily disable them during driver installation to avoid any conflicts.
  • Manual Driver Installation (Optional): If the automatic installer has issues, you can try manually installing the driver. You can find instructions on how to do this in the HP support website's "Additional Information" section for the PSC 1610 driver download.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
