Hi,
To set up the printer you would need HP Smart which is supported on macOS 10.14 or later, so for that an update would be required.
You may set up the printer from another supported device such as a mobile device with the HP Smart app:
Once setting up and configuring the printer from within HP Smart, then add it to your Mac with AirPrint:
