I understand you are trying to set up your HP Smart Tank 581 All-in-One Printer, follow these steps:
 

Unboxing and Setup

Unbox the Printer:

• Remove the printer from its packaging and all protective materials.

Install the Ink Tanks:

• Open the ink tank access door.
• Remove the ink tanks from their packaging.
• Insert each ink tank into its corresponding color slot. Ensure they click into place.

Load Paper:

• Open the paper input tray.
• Adjust the paper guides to fit the size of your paper.
• Load paper into the tray and adjust the guides so that they touch the edges of the paper.

Power On the Printer:

• Plug in the power cord and connect it to the printer.
• Turn on the printer using the power button.

Install Print Head (if applicable):

• Some Smart Tank models may require a print head to be installed. If so, follow the instructions in the setup guide to install it.

Software Installation

Download HP Smart App:

• On your computer or mobile device, go to the HP Smart app download page and download the app for your operating system.

Install HP Smart App:

• Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the HP Smart app.

Connect the Printer:

• Open the HP Smart app.
• Select “Add Printer” or “Set Up a New Printer.”
• Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your WiFi network and complete the setup.

Complete Setup:

• Once connected, follow any additional instructions in the HP Smart app to complete the printer setup.

Printer Configuration

Print Test Page:

• From the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel, print a test page to ensure everything is set up correctly.

Update Firmware (if needed): Update the firmware on an HP printer

• Check for any available firmware updates through the HP Smart app and install them if necessary.
