HP Color LaserJet CP3525n Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The universal HP printer driver does not correctly recognize this printer and it thinks it is a b&w printer. I cannot locate the original installation CD and I cannot figure out how to find it on the HP site. I am only offered the universal driver download, not the CD that was provided with the printer. With one very old laptop, I was able to use Windows update to find a very similar printer and its driver does allow printing in color. Sadly, when run windows update on a newer laptop the HP printer list that it fetches if tiny and does include any printers close to the CP3525n. I have tried calling HP but I've never been able to connect with an actual person and it eventually hangs up on me. I might try the way back machine, but thought I'd do this posting first.

It is not uncommon for the UPD driver to incorrectly install as a black and white but usually this is easily remedied.  On your PC, go to control panel>devices and printers and right click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the drop down menu. then click on the device settings tab, scroll down the installable options until you see device type and change it from auto detect to color.
