HP LaserJet Pro M404n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone,

Could someone please help me to find where I can download older firmware for our multiple HP Laserjet Pro n404m?

A few of these were recently upgraded and now we cannot use any other toner than HP. PLEASE HELP!

Thank you!

Shana

Check first to see if you can turn off cartridge policy.

Not sure if this will work with the 404 but worth a look: https://support.hp.com/ie-en/document/ish_7569532-7569576-16

Good Morning Repairatrooper,

That was the first thing I tried, and I have tried everything. I am an IT Manager, and we have over 20 of these printers. This is big deal and will cost us if I have to go with a new brand.

Thank you,

Shana

Question for you, do the toners you are trying to use have any chip on them at all? I see a lot of product coming out now where they expect you to remove the chip from a genuine cartridge and glue it on their cartridge. Even with protection turned off, I believe that you still need a chip on the cartridge. They do this to offer an even lower price on their product.

Yes, that was an issue I had address in the beginning. The toners I buy worked perfectly. I appreciate you trying to help!

The only option is to downgrade.
