After updating my firmware, my ink is no longer accepted. How can I downgrade my firmware?

@claire12345, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check for a Newer Firmware Update

Sometimes HP releases another update that resolves compatibility issues.

  • Go to HP’s support website
  • Enter your printer model: HP OfficeJet Pro 8035
  • Check if a newer firmware update is available.

Disable HP Cartridge Protection

If your printer is rejecting cartridges after a firmware update, it may have enabled HP Cartridge Protection:

  • Open the HP Smart App or access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS):
    • Find your printer’s IP address (Menu → SettingsNetwork Settings).
    • Enter the IP address in a web browser.
  • Navigate to Settings → Printer Preferences → Cartridge Protection.
  • Disable Cartridge Protection, then restart the printer.

Try Rolling Back the Firmware

HP does not provide official firmware downgrades, but you can try:

  • Check if an older firmware version is available:
    • Search online for HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 older firmware .
    • Ensure it’s from a trusted source to avoid security risks.

Prevent Future Updates

If you manage to revert the firmware, disable automatic updates to prevent the issue from happening again:

  • HP Smart App → Printer Settings → Disable Firmware Updates
  • EWS → Printer Update Settings → Disable Automatic Updates

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
