My printer can print out the smear and aligned cartridges pages but won’t print any of my print jobs I send it. It was completely fine.  I don’t know what has happened. I even restored the settings.  Help?

I understand your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e is printing alignment pages but not responding to other print jobs, even after a reset. Let’s walk through a few steps to get your printer back up and running:

Check Printer Status in HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart app on your iOS device.
  • Ensure the printer is online and not showing any errors.
  • If it appears offline, try restarting both the printer and your iOS device.

Run a Print Quality Diagnostic

Since the alignment page prints, the hardware seems functional. Let’s check for ink or printhead issues:

  • On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard.
  • Tap Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Cartridges.
  • Follow the prompts and print the Print Quality Diagnostic Report.
  • If needed, repeat the cleaning up to 3 times.

Check for Ink Smears or Low Ink

  • Still in Printer Maintenance, select Clean Smear.
  • Also, check ink levels from the HP Smart app or printer dashboard.
  • Replace any low or empty cartridges with genuine HP ink.

Ensure Correct Print Settings

  • On your iOS device, when printing:
    • Tap Share > Print.
    • Make sure the correct printer is selected.
    • Try printing a different document or photo to rule out file-specific issues.

Reset the Printer Again (if needed)

If the issue persists, try a full factory reset:

  • On the printer, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Confirm the reset and reconfigure the printer.

Reinstall the Printer in HP Smart

  • Remove the printer from the HP Smart app.
  • Re-add it by tapping the "+" icon and following the setup instructions.
  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device.
