Envy 6000

I use WIFI printing on my HP Envy 6000. Configuration wise everything seems to be in order. HP Print doctor do no find any issues.
The printing usually starts, and if the print job is simple (one page, just text) it might actually complete.
Larger documents, or even a single page with graphics, terminates in the middle of printing.

I have tried restarting everything, incl. WiFi router, multiple times.
Need tips in how to debug this further.

(printing directly via USB cable of course works like a charm)

Hi @jawa09,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

May I Know does it happen while copying too?

  • Step 1: Remove the black ink cartridge
  • If you just set up your printer and you notice that black ink is missing or faded on your printouts, remove the black ink cartridge and print only with the tri-color ink cartridge. This allows the printer to operate in single-cartridge mode, which creates composite black from the tri-color ink cartridge.
  • Step 2: Use genuine HP ink cartridges
  • HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink or toner supplies. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP cartridges, the steps in this document might not resolve the issue. To check the authenticity of your cartridges, go to the HP anti-counterfeit webpage (in English).
  • Purchase replacement cartridges and other supplies from the HP Store or local retailers.
  • Step 3: Allow the printer to rest
  • Sometimes, print quality issues can be resolved during a period of inactivity. Consider waiting for about 30 minutes, and then try the print job again.
  • If allowing the printer to rest did not resolve the issue, continue to the next step.
  • Step 4: Check the paper
  • Use the following guidelines to make sure the paper you are using is appropriate for the print job. If it is not, reload the printer with an appropriate paper type.
  • Step 5: Check the print settings
  • Check the print settings to make sure they are appropriate for your print job.
  • Step 6: Check ink levels
  • Low ink levels can impact print quality. You can check ink levels in the printer control panel.
  • Step 7: Replace any low or empty ink cartridges
  • Replace any low or empty ink cartridges, and then try to print again
  • Step 8: Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report
  • Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report, and then evaluate the results.
  • Step 9: Check the Print Quality Diagnostic report for defects
  • Review the diagnostic areas of the Print Quality Diagnostic report to check for defects. Defects on the report can help you identify the print quality issue, and then troubleshoot it.
  • Step 10: Clean the ink cartridges
  • If you found defects on the Print Quality Diagnostic Report, run an automatic tool to clean the ink cartridges.
  • Step 11: Align the printer
  • For the best print quality, align the ink cartridges.
  • Step 12: Clean the area around the ink nozzles
  • Do not perform these steps unless the test page or printout specifically shows smeared text or track marks. Clean the area around the ink nozzles if you see track marks or smears on the printouts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

HI Rachel,

Thanks for your reply, but I do not think this is the issue. The printer works fine when connected to the PC via USB cable, and it also functions well when printing from an iPhone or Android-phone.
I suspect there is something with the combination wireless printing <-> PC.
I actually bought this new printer because I had a lot of the same hazzle with my old Envy 2540 printer.

So prime suspects are Printer drivers, possibly supporting files on the PC (Win-11 Home), incorrect installation of drivers,  or perhaps Wifi settings ?
Hard to do diagnostics here, as some simple printing works fine while more complex printing (multi-pages, graphics) fails.
The printer just stops in the middle of printing a page, and the printer driver returns a a generic "an error has occurred" type message.
HP Doctor does not identify any issues.
