Hello
I would appreciate instructions on how to change the region on my HP Tango X from US to EU so that I can use ink cartridges 64/303/804 purchased in the EU via Instant Ink. The printer is out of warranty but I love it. 🙂
I'm currently enrolled in Instant Ink in USA and have a log in / delivery associated in the US.
I want to relocate all that to Portugal.
1. Do I need to perform a region reset to use printer cartridges purchased in the EU?
2. Do I need to create a new EU Instant Ink login to join the Instant Ink in Portugal?
3. Do I need to cancel my old US Instant Ink login to enable the Instant Ink in Portugal?
4. I have 1 tri-color cartridge left from the US? What should I do with that?
Thanks
POB

Hi @POB_67,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you move to a different country we need to perform a regional reset in order to make the printer work in the new region. I will surely help you with the Regional reset.
1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.
4. Make sure HP Smart App is installed too.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel. Thanks for your prompt reply.
1. Do I definitely need the USB cable or can I do it via wifi?
2. Is there a link to the new software that I need to install, and instructions somewhere please?
Thanks for your help!

Hi @POB_67,
I can surely help you with the regional reset. If the above criteria are met. I request you to please continue with the steps below.
Please follow the steps below.
1.) Connect the printer via USB (usually you need it in case your internet connection is not strong or may have downtime while performing it. You can skip it and perform the process under wifi as well)
2.) Launch HP Smart and click the product ink levels to open the Supported Cartridges window.
3.) Clicking ink levels in HP Smart
Hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys (Cmd + Space in MAC) and then right-click on the empty area to the right of the ink levels.
4.) Clicking to the right of the ink levels
The Set New Regions window opens.
please share a screenshot of this window with me
Use the "Copy to Clipboard" feature to paste the values in a private message..

HI Rachel
Thanks for your reply.
I now have the USB A-B cord, but a few questions before I begin the process.
1. In other similar questions posted here, the answer from HP has been "The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device. I have sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer." However, is this not required in my situation. To be clear, I want to join HP Instant Ink here in EU.
2. I am currently using my near full printer cartridges from the USA. If I change regions on the printer today as instructed, will I be able to continue to use the cartridges until they are empty, and then purchase and change to the EU cartridges? Or should I perform the region reset only once the cartridges are empty?
3. Is there a promo code to join HP Instant Ink here in the EU?
Many thanks
Paul
