HP OfficeJet 5740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I wish to connect my HP Officejet 5740 printer to my new Dell XPS 8930 Desktop, whose OS is; Windows 10/64 bit. According to the installation CD that came with the 5740 when I purchased it several years ago, the CD states it only goes up to Windows 8.1.

I searched the Software & Drivers section of this website using my new XPS, pertaining to available drivers for the 5740, and that webpage auto-recognized my computer as Windows 10/64bit. Below that O/S identification it listed all the available software/drivers . It recommended;   "HP5740 Officejet All-in-One Printer Series Full Feature Software & Drivers package, version 40.13,   146.7MB in size, release date;  4-16-2019, apparently for use in Windows 10/64 systems. The download is named;  OJ5740 Full Webpack  40.13.1176. Would this be the correct software & drivers set I need to download and install on my new Dell XPS 8930 to enable my 5740 to connect with this new XPS desktop. I have not installed any other printer software so far on this new desktop. I intend on connecting via USB, using the current USB cable that came with the 5740 when purchased. I don't intend to connect the printer wirelessly. Any information would be appreciated, thank you!!!

The driver you listed is the correct one for the Offficejet 5740 under Windows 10 x64, you can download it from the link here.  After the file is downloaded click on the file to run the installer.  Do not connect the USB cable until the installer prompts you to connect the printer.
