Hi @RP9248

1.  Please install the next driver:

2. Then Add again your printer in the Printer settings:

FerRX,   Thanks I did add the driver and added the printer as you suggested.

I did as you suggested and loaded the driver as you suggested. I had a message a problem about an extension program but the execution for the driver said it loaded successfully.

I still cannot print anything as I get a message on my printer stating "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. It states to power off, unplug and turn it on. If problem persist contact HP"

I step thru the steps to no avail. This was what it was doing prior so I am back to square one. HP is of no help as there is no support.

I appreciate your help and if you have any other suggestions I would be thankful.

Hi @RP9248

Ok, thanks for following and providing more details. 😊

That message is related to cartridges inside printer and need to clean printhead:

FerRX,

Thanks for your suggestion but wanted your thoughts after reviewing the YouTube video you sent. I found another video specific to my 8600 specifically that reflects pulling the printhead and getting a specific kit to clean the printhead (Amazon $ 25.00 U.S.) and states to get new ink (120.00 U.S). P.S. A new printer head with positive  ratings is about (138.00 U.S.).

This printer is about 12-14 years old.

I am wondering of it is just a better idea to just buy another printer and move on based on these options. PS. The message from the screen is similar to the YouTube video the same except it does not have to option to allow me access to the menu to check ink status or do a printhead clean. (may be another issue)

Please share your thoughts. AllI need at this time is a simple printer that will work with my apple products.( ie Iphone/IPAD pro/IMAC. If you have a recommendation on a printer I am all ears. ) Thanks for your help

Hi @RP9248

Ok, if you are ready to move on then you may find some new Officejet model.

Check available printer models in the next page:

or maybe some other vendors like Amazon, Best Buy.

Right now I have an Officejet 9010, since 2019 and still working, but now I am thinking to replace with a new Smart Tank because these models use Ink bottles instead of cartridges.

Simply choose the best for your budget. 😇
