HP ENVY Photo 7158
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I'm printing on a HP ENVY Photo 7158 from a MacBook Pro using El Capitan. It consistently fails to print violet shades in color photos. I printed a photo of a rainbow and all colors printed but violet. The sky has some areas of violet shading which also failed to show. Multiple other photos lack violet hues. At the same time, cyan hues were over colored. It appears magenta was failing to print, however at the same time true red did clearly print.  I deleted the print driver and re-download the correct driver, which was confirmed to be the current update. I changed out both black and color cartridges, without correction of the problem. The numbers for the ink are correct for the printer. Ink levels are consistently adequate.  Print quality testing and a test photo print (printer generated) were normal, without defect. This appears to be a driver problem, but I don't know what to do since downloading the current one failed to correct the problem.  Any suggestions?

Ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Remove and add the printer

Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.

Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign, and then delete the printer.

Select printer and click the minus sign

Click the Plus sign, and then click Add Printer or Scanner.

Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select AirPrint
