HP Color LaserJet Pro 3201dw

When adding my HP Color LaserJet Pro 3201dw device I'm asked for a WPS FOR MY PRINTER. It specifically states it is on the paperwork that came with the printer. Since this printer worked just fine for 6 weeks I tossed the paperwork. WHERE am I am able to locate the WPS PIN number so I can add this printer to my network? PLEASE DO NOT DIRECT ME TO MY MODEM. My modem PIN number would NOT be on the paperwork that came with the printer. My printer SHNGC-2200-01. It does not have a touch screen display and I've checked every setting - there is no WPS PIN number anywhere in the settings. Thanks for your help and time.

Hi @SimplyLisaLisa,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Color LaserJet Pro 3201dw printer does not have a touch screen and you're prompted for a WPS PIN, you might be looking at a different kind of WPS setup compared to what you might be used to. Here are some steps to help you locate or bypass the WPS PIN requirement.

Check the Printer's Network Configuration Page:

  • Print a network configuration page from your printer. This page may list the WPS PIN if it's available. To print this page, consult the printer's manual or navigate to the network settings using the printer's control panel or buttons.

Access the Printer's Web Interface:

  • Connect your printer to your computer using a USB cable temporarily.
  • Open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address to access the embedded web server (EWS). You can find the IP address by printing a network configuration page.
  • Look for WPS settings in the EWS, although this is less likely if the printer doesn’t have a touch screen or advanced settings available through its control panel.

Use HP Smart or Printer Software:

  • Install the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone if you haven’t already.
  • Open the app and add your printer to the network through the software, which might provide an alternative method for network setup that doesn’t require manually entering a WPS PIN.

Reset Network Settings:

  • Sometimes resetting the printer’s network settings can help. You’ll need to consult the printer’s manual for instructions on how to do this, which might involve holding down a certain button or combination of buttons.

Since you mentioned you’ve already checked the settings and documentation, following these steps should help you either find the PIN or resolve the network connection issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
