I uninstalled the original software, deleted the printer and am trying to download and reinstall the printer driver.

when I start the setup file, it unzips, but then says it pops up an error message saying it can't find the file specified. the name of the file is listed across the top of the message, but is cut off because the location is so long.

It is something like:

 Users\AppData\Local\Temp\7zs09CC\Setup..\Setup\Blocksysuse...

And that's all I can read. If I click OK, the installation process shuts down

Any idea what is causing this?

an update to this issue, I downloaded the HP Support Assistant and went through finding and reinstalling the printer that way. It worked with no hangups on the file it couldn't find earlier.

Success!

Hi @Cathy_Anthony

Try these steps to clear the temp files & retry to install

  1. Press the Windows Button + R to open the "Run" dialog box.
  2. Enter this text:
    %temp%
  3. Click "OK." This will open your temp folder.
  4. Press Ctrl + A to select all.
  5. Press "Delete" on your keyboard and click "Yes" to confirm.
  6. All temporary files will now be deleted.
Note: Some files may not be able to be deleted. If you are prompted about files that are missing or in use, click the check box next to "Do this for all current items" and click "Skip."
Hope this helps.

So  I deleted the contents of the Temp Folder as directed and re-installed as Admin, but got stopped in the same place with the same error.

This time though,  because I had cleared out the Temp folder, I was able to dig into the new temp file created by the install, and I did find the file the installation said was missing:

"C:\Users\CAnthony\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS131B\setup\BlockSysUser.exe"

Where 7zS131B is the name of the temp file created for this installation.

I tried running the BlocksysUser.exe file, but nothing happened.

Any ideas?
