Installed Big Sur on my Mac, now can't find printer driver that works for HP Deskjet 6540

How can I get my HP Deskjet 6540 to work on my computer?  It's a Mac with the Big Sur OS 11.1 (not among those in the drop down here).   Hasn't worked since I installed Big Sur.  Can't find a driver for it on the HP website.  

Gutenprint seems very complicated.  Am I missing anything?  And I can't find my printer among the list of those it supports: [content removed]

It's an extremely good printer.  And I don't want to be forced to let it go.  What's the easy solution?  Thanks.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to use the printer after upgrading to Mac OS 11.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you remove the printer from the computer and then download the printer driver from the below link. Once the driver is download add the printer again and check.

Unfortunately, this is an extremely old printer and the last macOS print driver was for version 10.4 which was released may years ago. This printer was created before Airprint existed and is not compatible.

You can check to see if third party Gutenprint drivers are available. Please not they are not supported by HP or Apple.
