I want to install my old 870Cxi to a new Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit install computer to which the printer has been attached before through a PCI port card dully installed with its own drivers.
Now, I downloaded the driver from HP site. The printer does not appear on Device manager (the port does). So I try to install it with the Legacy Hardware Wizard (in Device Manager), but it doesn't work because the wizard wants a .INF file, and it is not included in the driver files packet as downloaded from HP.
What can I do or where can I get the required .INF file, please?

Thank you very much for your reply. I Made a mistake and you did not understand me.
In fact there is an updated driver for this specific old HP printer. Windows 7 did come with a driver, but later updates deleted it and it is no longer available from Windows.
My mistake is that it does not have an executable file because it does not need it. It uses the HP Installation Manager, so it does not need the IBF file for the Windows installation wizard. So I was wrongly trying to install it with the Windows wizard through Device manager.
It is now installed as recommended on the driver's page and working. This was the solution.
Thanks again and sorry for may mistake.

@Straydog1st, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Due to the age of the printer, there is no driver available on the HP Support site and the support is limited.
Install the printer using Windows built-in driver.
Refer to this document to know how. While installing, if you do not see your printer in the list, select HP Deskjet 990c printer which is a generic driver.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Glad to know that the issue is now resolved. The link that you have attached is not the HP website. It is a third-party website to download the driver. However, the printer is working now.
Feel free to contact us with any concerns related to HP products.
Happy to help!
