HP D110
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP D110 wireless printer had been working fine on my desktop PC (windows 10) but this week when trying to print, it immediately shows a message "failed to print".  I am able to print to the same printer with no issues from a windows 10 laptop I have.  I attempted to remove the printer and reinstall with no luck.  I thought that maybe the problem could be a recent Windows update or that my McAfee virus scan was maybe blocking the IP or something so I turned off the firewall and attempted to whitelist the printers IP but that didn't seem to help either.

So then I attempted the resolution in this article: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/D110-Hangs-on-Product-Configuration-Dur... but I get the fatal error during the last Configuration step every time.

The installation doesn't appear to have any issues until that last step.  It sees and connects to the printer with no problems.  When the installer fails it was able to send an error report and it downloaded a troubleshooting guide which somehow identified my computer as Windows 8 which is strange.  I'm all out of ideas to try and resolve this issue at this point.

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Tried uninstalling everything HP and reinstalling again.  Tried installing with the USB attached and everything works great.  Tried installing as wireless and it hang on the final Product Configuration step every time.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Are you using the HP Smart App on your PC? If not, you may try and install to see if that works: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142. If yes, uninstall and reinstall it.

If the issue persists, create a TCP IP port

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)

2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right-click the printer and left-click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.

3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.

4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

This video resource will show you how to do it:

Create & Use TCP IP port

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for your response!

Yes, I am using the HP Smart App and I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling every piece of HP software on my PC.

I am able to print a test page with the printer if I enter the IP address directly in a web browser so I will try adding the TCP/IP port as you suggest.  Thank you, and I will let you know the results!
