i have attempted to install the 1102W on my HP WIn 11 Home PC 64 bit wo any success. I have read the blogs about the work arounds etc. The only thing i have not tried is by naming the ip address the printer is plugged into. I am a rookie and have no idea how i would find whatever thats called. If someone out there can help then you will be my new best friend forever.
One what i call strange thing that i can do is print from my phone to the printer. I tried that earlier and it worked. I cannot understand how i am able to do that yet my pc is not recoginizing the HP software nor installing the driver on to my pc. I have also tried to print to the the 1102W from my pc via a wireless connectiion but that didnt work. I have spent so many hours trying to do this I should have just gone out and purchased a compatible printer.

Hi @WillyBII
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for hanging in there—this one can be a bit tricky, but we’ll get you through it step by step. The good news is: if your phone can print to the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w, then the printer is definitely alive and connected to your network. That means your PC just needs a little nudge to find it.
To address your installation issue with the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer on a Windows 11 64-bit system, here are some steps you can follow:
Steps to Install HP LaserJet Pro P1102w on Windows 11
Check Compatibility: Verify that your printer model is compatible with Windows 11. Visit the HP support website to confirm compatibility.
Driver Download and Installation:
- Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Choose the appropriate driver for Windows 11 64-bit and download it.
- Follow the installation instructions provided, ensuring that your printer is connected to the computer either via USB or over the network.
IP Address Setup:
- If your printer is connected via network, you can find the printer's IP address by printing a configuration page from the printer's menu.
- Alternatively, check your network router's settings to find a list of connected devices, including the printer's IP address.
Add Printer Using IP Address:
- Open Control Panel on your PC.
- Go to 'Devices and Printers' and click 'Add a printer'.
- Choose 'Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer'.
- Once your printer appears, select it; if not, choose 'The printer that I want isn't listed'.
- Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname', and then enter the IP address you found.
Troubleshooting:
- Ensure that your printer is turned on and properly connected to the network.
- Restart your computer and the printer to refresh connections.
- Disable any firewall or antivirus temporarily to check if they are blocking the printer setup.

Hello Hawks Eye
I am away until July 9th. I’ll re read all of below and try to install the drivers again. I’ll need to locate the printers config page via the remote connection since my pc is not recognizing the printer. Let me do all of that and keep this discussion open in the event I cannot get past that process.

That sounds like a solid plan—and it’s great that you’re giving yourself time to revisit everything with a fresh perspective. 😊
When you're ready to dive back in, let’s explore a few advanced options that have helped in similar cases, especially with the LaserJet P1102w on Windows 11.
🧩 Additional HP-Recommended Fixes to Try
1. Use Windows Built-in Driver (Alternative Method)
Even though HP doesn’t officially list Windows 11 support for this model, many users have had success using the built-in Windows driver:
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Click Add device, then The printer that I want isn’t listed.
- Choose Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
- Select Use an existing port (usually USB001 or DOT4_001).
- When prompted for a driver, choose HP > HP LaserJet Professional P1102w from the list.
If it’s not listed, click Windows Update and wait for the list to refresh.
2. Install in Compatibility Mode
If the full driver package fails to install:
- Right-click the installer .exe file.
- Select Properties > Compatibility tab.
- Check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and choose Windows 10 or 8.
- Click Apply, then run the installer as administrator.
3. Try Network Setup Instead of USB
Some users have reported better success installing over Wi-Fi:
- Reset the printer’s network settings.
- Reconnect it using WPS or the Wireless Setup Utility.
- Then try adding it via Settings > Printers & scanners > Add device.
4. Use HP Smart App as a Bridge
While not officially supported for this model, the HP Smart app can sometimes detect legacy printers and help complete setup. It’s worth a try from the Microsoft Store.
And if you’re still stuck after July 9th, I’ll be right here to help you pick it back up without missing a beat. 💪
Let me know if you’d like help walking through any of these steps or prepping for your next attempt!
Try at your leisure and keep us posted if you require further assistance.
Thanks!
