It occurs to me that you are might not be looking for an HP provided OCR solution for this new printer.

Instead you might be searching for any OCR solution available compatible with your OS and your printer.

There might be (should be) some kind of MacOS based OCR software - free or purchased.

I will stay away from recommendations not knowing one app from another for Mac.

An actual Mac user might wish to recommend their favorite.

There might even be an Apple "app for that" that does not require that you go wandering around "outside" on the Internet looking for software. 

Were it mine to do, I'd stick with well known brands of purchased software - personal opinion.

Requirements for HP+ printers

This topic describes the requirements for HP+ printers.

Keep the printer connected to the Internet

HP+ printers are cloud-connected devices that must remain connected to the Internet in order to function. The
Internet connection enables the printer to deliver HP+ specific app features and firmware updates.

During setup, you must connect the printer to the Internet using a supported network connection. After setup,
you can print using a USB cable connection, if desired, but the printer must still be connected to the Internet.

Use Original HP cartridges

Original HP cartridges are cartridges manufactured and sold by HP in official HP packaging. If non-Original HP
supplies or refilled cartridges are installed, HP+ printers will not operate as expected.

Have an HP account

Create or sign into an HP account to manage your printer.

Hi,

thanks for your answer, but this can hardly be correct.  I bought the machine because of this option.  In de HP page with specifications, with some options it is indicated you will have to activate HP+, but this is not the case for the OCR function.  Hence there should be a way to use this without HP +

What else?

You can try using HP Smart Shortcuts and Save to Cloud storage without having enabled HP+.

The method not work for me without HP+, but perhaps your situation is different.

I do not have access to MacOS - 

The sample is created on Windows and should be generally applicable to HP Smart Mobile Shortcuts.
