Is DigiRepair LLC any part of HP?? I was contacting HP for a printer connectivity issue and wound up with these people?? The problem was fixed, but I didn't like that they did not say they were anything other than HP???

Please help I'm afraid I was scammed!

Welcome to the HP English Community --

No -

It is likely that where ever you landed, whatever you saw, whatever you were told,

You were not any closer to HP than you and I are to each other --

I'm located in continental the USA.

True - physical distance means nothing "online", the statement is only meant to illustrate a point.

No -

Not HP.

Scammed?

Maybe...

Hopefully you did not let these people into your computer --

Letting strangers look at your files, pictures, personal documents, and security, is generally a very bad idea.

Plus

  • You might have been told your computer is full of bugs - lies.
  • You might have been told you need to purchase their anti-hacking software - lies.
  • You might have been told that you must pay for drivers -- this scam is frequently accompanied by a fake driver "download" and failure that the scammers then say is your problem - "purchase our stuff" and the problem will go away.
  • You might have purchased monitoring software that will now connect you to them.
  • Next time you call, they might say you need an "Upgrade" in an attempt to extort more money from you.

We seen reports of people falling for all sorts of schemes.

Stories range from inconvenient to sometimes heartbreaking.

If any of this sounds like your experience,

  • Call you Bank
  • Change your passwords
  • Report the incident to the Authorities
  • Talk to someone you know to help you gain perspective - for example, a trusted friend, colleague, community leader, clergy, family member.

Beware of Fake Sites

The "Real Deal"

123.hp.com - Printer setup from the HP® Official site

https://123.hp.com/

The official HP 123 site is where you can find the appropriate (and free) software and drivers for your printer.

There are many “fake” sites listed (in search engines) for “123” – please make sure you are using the actual “HP” site.

If you are asked for money to correct "issues" on your printer or computer OR if the “help” wants to sell you software, threatens you, or wants access to your computer, you are using a “fake” site. Do not give these people your information!
