HP Photosmart C4680 All-in-One Printer

Is there an available driver for the HP Photosmart C4680?   I've tried and get no where on downloading a driver for Windows 11.

Hi @bferdy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Photosmart C4680 is an older printer, and finding a compatible driver for Windows 11 can be a bit challenging since HP might not provide direct support for such legacy devices on newer operating systems. However, you have a few options to try:

Windows Update: Sometimes, Windows Update can automatically detect your printer and install a compatible driver. Connect your printer to your computer and go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. If a driver is found, it will be installed automatically.

HP Support Website:

  • Visit the HP Support website.
  • Enter your printer model (HP Photosmart C4680) and search for drivers.
  • Even if there isn't a driver specifically for Windows 11, a Windows 10 driver might work. Download the latest available driver for Windows 10.

Compatibility Mode: If you download a driver for an older version of Windows (like Windows 10), you can try installing it in compatibility mode:

  • Right-click the driver setup file and select Properties.
  • Go to the Compatibility tab.
  • Check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows 10.
  • Click Apply and then OK.
  • Run the setup file.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and scanning problems, including driver issues.

Generic Printer Drivers: Windows 11 might have a generic printer driver that can provide basic functionality for your printer. To add the printer manually:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Click Add a printer or scanner.
  • If your printer isn’t detected automatically, click The printer that I want isn’t listed.
  • Choose Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
  • Select Use an existing port and choose the appropriate port.
  • Select HP from the manufacturer list and look for a generic HP driver, such as HP DeskJet or HP Photosmart, which might be compatible.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
