I need to downgrade a 6970 to a previous firmware. When I use the hp driver installer over wifi, the interface shows the 6970 in the list but tags it as "not applicable". When I unzip the installer and copy the .ful file (also as .full) to an empty (non bootable) USB stick and connect it to the front port of the printer, the 6970 display shows me the options "Print photos" and "Scan to USB".

I could use some guidance.

SOLVED. For some reason the full solution keeps disappearing when I post it. Perhaps because it includes an external link?

Anyway, in short. This is the techinque: Solved: HP OJ 6500 firmware update Not applicable - HP Support Community - 7153261

And you'll need to look for the appropriate downgrade firmware on the net.

As with all firmware upgrades and downgrades, this may brick your device and void your warranty.

Proceed with caution and at your own risk.
