Hi everyone! I have an HP Office Jet 8025e that I bought just over a year ago. I initially signed up via HP+ for an Instant Ink subscription, only to see that after a year, I was better off just purchasing retail cartridges. I canceled my subscription with an end date of Feb 29th. Ever since then, I've been unable to print. At first, I thought it might be because I still had the previously delivered Instant Ink cartridges, so I went to Costco to purchase genuine HP cartridges (not Instant Ink), but when I put them in, I got a "Validating, please wait" message. When I look at my HP Smart app, it says I have an account or cartridge issue. I've done a remote session with an HP support engineer for over 2.5 hours, but still am stuck on the same screen, even after both semi-full and full factory resets. I even went into the Support Menu and did the whole Trade at OOBE thing. Any suggestions?

Hi @m1inny,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are facing issues with printing with non-hp cartridges.

You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.

There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why its not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

However, try the steps below and see if that works.

Here's what you need to know & do:

If you have an instant ink cartridge on your printer, remove it and discard that, you can only use regular cartridges on your printer once you cancel the program.

That said, if you have trouble using regular cartridges, I recommend you turn off the web service using the steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04808536

when done successfully, check if it works fine.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
