HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I still use my HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One printer/scanner that I purchased years ago. Ever since I upgraded to Windows 11 and when I download the software on a new PC it always makes it to where it will only print in grayscale or monochrome. When I uninstall the software and only set up using HP Smart it seems to do just fine. However I like to use the desktop software because it is what I'm familiar with. When installing the Full Package software that is available normally for Windows 10 it doesn't select the correct driver. I have read many different posts and figured it out. I would say the easiest way to fix issues is downloading HP Smart from the Microsoft store and complete set up that way, if you can care less about the software specific to your device. HP Smart downloads the correct driver. But, if you're like me and want the full software of your specific device you can follow these steps...

Download HP Smart first and set up your printer.
Proceed to downloading the software for your specific printer on HPs website.
After you complete those two steps click Windows and go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners > Click on your Printer/Scanner > Select 'Printer Properties' > A window will pop up, go to 'Advanced' tab > on the dropdown for 'Driver' if it says Microsoft IPP Class Driver you want to find the other driver for your printer. > Click Apply > Click OK

After completing these steps when you go to print something and click on printer settings it should show that the color option is now popping up, and hopefully it also fixes other issues that this may have caused.

Hope this helps even if it's just one person. ❤️
