Hi @Quan400,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP DeskJet 4120e All-in-One Printer is having trouble completing the setup, here are several steps you can follow to resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer's Wireless Connection
- Ensure printer is in setup mode: If you're setting it up for the first time, the printer should automatically be in setup mode (indicated by a blinking blue wireless light). If it's not, restore setup mode by pressing and holding the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer for 5 seconds until the light starts blinking.
- Bring the printer close to the router: Ensure the printer is within range of your WiFi router.
2. Use the HP Smart App for Setup
- Make sure the HP Smart app is installed on your device (available for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS).
- Open the HP Smart app and add the printer. The app will guide you through the setup process.
3. Restart Printer and Devices
- Power cycle the printer by turning it off, unplugging it for a minute, and then plugging it back in.
- Restart your computer or mobile device.
4. Ensure Internet Connection is Stable
- Verify that your WiFi network is working properly by testing other devices.
- Turn off mobile data if setting up via a mobile device to ensure it connects through WiFi only.
5. Disable VPN or Firewall Temporarily
- Turn off VPN if it's active during the setup process as it can interfere with communication between the printer and the network.
- Temporarily disable firewall settings on your device to allow smooth communication during setup.
6. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- If possible, connect the printer via USB to a PC and update its firmware using the HP Smart app or the HP website to ensure the latest version is installed.
7. Use an Alternate Setup Method
- If the wireless setup continues to fail, try setting up the printer using a USB connection to ensure the initial configuration goes through, and then switch to wireless afterward.
