If the printer has not been used for several hours, it will issue a "Cartridge Problem" dialogue box saying the "One or more of the cartridges are missing or damaged.  Until cartridges are replaced make sure the printer is turned on to avoid damage to the printer".  If I power down the printer, wait 10 seconds or so and then power up, it prints without error or problem  If it sits for an hour or so the problem returns.  I have replaced all the ink cartridges, removed them and reset them several times without solving the problem.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

Let's try a power reset on the printer

 

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware 

 

Also try the steps in the document -Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge
