Hi @Octobergirl1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your new HP Deskjet 2852e printer is having trouble finding the correct driver. Here’s how you can resolve this issue.

Download and Install the Latest Driver:

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Search for your HP Deskjet 2852e printer model.
  • Download the latest driver and software package for your operating system.
  • Install the driver by following the on-screen instructions.

Update the Printer Driver:

  • Open the Device Manager on your computer (you can find this by searching in the Start menu).
  • Locate your printer under Printers or Unknown Devices.
  • Right-click on the printer and select Update Driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Sometimes, updating your operating system can automatically provide the necessary drivers.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and click Check for updates.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your computer and printer to ensure that any changes are properly applied.

Re-add the Printer:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Remove your HP 2852e from the list of printers.
  • Click Add a printer or scanner and follow the prompts to re-add it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
