When trying to install a driver for my old Photomsmart C7280 all in one onto my new computer with Windows 11, I don't see the model. Apparently HP is no longer supporting it? But I do see other Photosmart models available. Has anyone else with a Photsmart C7280 printer tried one of the other similar models, and found that it worked? Or found some other way to keep using their printer? I have been using it wireless, but I don't have to be. Thank you - Eileen

Hi @HillTownGal,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
You can try a few workarounds to continue using your printer.
Compatibility Mode: Try installing the latest available drivers in compatibility mode.
- Download the Windows 10 driver for the Photosmart C7280 from the HP website.
- Right-click the installer file and select "Properties."
- Go to the "Compatibility" tab.
- Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select "Windows 10."
- Click "Apply" and then "OK."
- Run the installer.
Using Similar Model Drivers: Some users have had success using drivers for similar models. You can try installing drivers for other Photosmart models that are listed as supported in Windows 11.
- Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners."
- Click "Add a printer or scanner."
- Click "The printer that I want isn't listed."
- Select "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings" and click "Next."
- Choose the appropriate port (usually USB for a direct connection).
- Select HP from the list of manufacturers and then choose a similar Photosmart model from the list of printers.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Universal Print Driver: HP's Universal Print Driver (UPD) can sometimes work with older printers.
- Download the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows.
- Install the driver following the on-screen instructions.
- Add your printer using the UPD and test if it works correctly.
Windows Built-in Drivers: Sometimes, Windows 11 has built-in drivers that can work with older printers.
- Connect your printer to the computer via USB.
- Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners."
- Click "Add a printer or scanner."
- Let Windows try to find and install the built-in driver for your printer.
Using Basic Driver: If none of the above solutions work, you can try using a basic driver to enable printing functionality.
- Follow the steps to manually add a printer.
- When selecting the printer model, choose a generic or basic HP driver.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
