I have a teacher who has a MBA running Sonoma and a LJ M101 printer.

I need to find a printer driver that is compatible with Sonoma. The printer is connected via USB and it is seeing the printer but not applying the correct driver. Yes, CUPS is installed on this computer but I can't find it when I do a manual search.

I don't know if there is a compatible driver that I can use in its place.

Hi @pfisher

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for outlining the situation clearly. I understand that the LJ M101 printer is being detected via USB on macOS Sonoma, but the correct driver is not being applied, and the printer does not appear in the manual CUPS driver list. I appreciate that you have already checked through CUPS and attempted to locate the driver manually.

To guide you further, could you confirm the exact printer model name? HP has multiple LaserJet M100 series printers (for example, LaserJet Pro M102, M101-M106 series), and the driver availability can differ depending on the precise model. Additionally, it would help to know:

  • Whether the printer was previously working with an older macOS version on this same system.
  • If the printer shows up in the HP App when connected via USB.

With these details, we can identify whether a compatible driver package exists for Sonoma or if an alternative driver (such as a universal HP driver) can be applied in its place.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
