OfficeJet 7612
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop will not connect to my OfficeJet 7612.  I've followed all the HP advice using HP tools to uninstall/re-install software on my laptop, reset the printer with network connectivity, disabled firewalls, and a myriad of other stuff I can't describe from memory.  All to no avail.  The printer shows in the 'Devices & Printers' folder (as HP Officejet 7610 series) and is not greyed out but hovering the mouse over the icon shows, 'Status: Not Connected:'.  I have previously been able to print from this laptop but lost the ability a week or so ago.  There have been no changes to the network or system software updates made on the laptop and my wife can print from her own laptop.  I have completely run out of ideas or places to go.  Help please?

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

Appreciate all your time and efforts.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Are the printer and computer connected to the same network?

Wireless light on the printer is steady or blinking?

If the wireless light is steady, follow the below suggestion.

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-7610-wide-format-e-all-in-on... to download the HP Officejet 7610 series Full Feature Software and Drivers.

Try to print.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Thanks for your response Raj1788 (I'm a former HP employee by the way).

Your solution didn't work though.

The printui.exe /s step was something I had not come across before but even after running that it was to no avail.  I ran your process twice and the second time I did notice a message telling me a file 'prnhpcll.inf' could not be removed as it was in use.  Not sure if that was significant but I doubt it.

You asked:

"Are the printer and computer connected to the same network?" - Yes;

"Wireless light on the printer is steady or blinking?" - Steady.

What annoys me most is that my wife is able to print from her own laptop (so I know the printer is set up properly).  It means that there something went awry with my own laptop but what that is I am at a loss to understand.

Thanks for trying though.  If you have any other suggestions I am all ears.

I suggest you download and run the HP Print And Scan Doctor from this Link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

Run PSDR v5.0.2

Once the PSDR detects the Printer, it will show up the IP address and Software Status.

Select the correct Printer and click on Next.

PSDR will check if the Printer is on the Network and communication between the PC and the Printer. Once the connection check is done, click on Fix Printing

Once PSDR goes through all checks and automatic fixes, click on Print a test page.

Regardless if PSDR printed the test page or not, click on “NO PRINT”

PSDR will then notify you that there is an update available, click on continue, and PSDR will apply the patch and ask for a reboot.

Post restart the PSDR will run automatically to check for more issue.  If no issue found close PSDR.

Let me know how it goes

Thank you

Thanks KrazyToad but still no joy.

I tried using the Control Panel Troubleshooter tab to install with the CD and ended up with this message:

'Officejet 7610 series is disabled'

Searching for help using those words I came across this HP Topic:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/HP-Officejet-7610-series-wireless-communication-disabl...

The HP user 'Mr Robot' seems to have a solution to this that works but I can only get that by PM.  Does anyone know this guy or does anyone else have the solution?

Appreciate all your time and efforts.

Reset the printer network settings, complete the following steps:

1. On the printer control panel, touch (Wireless), and then touch Settings. Touch Restore Network Defaults, and then touch Yes. A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.

2. On the printer control panel, touch (Wireless), touch Settings, and then touch Print Network &onfigurDtion to print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Connect the printer back to the network.

If the printer drivers are not installed,  Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-7610-wide-format-e-all-in-on... to download the HP Officejet 7610 series Full Feature Software and Drivers.

Make sure the printer and the computer are connected to the same network.

Try to make a copy and check if the copy is working fine.
