Hello,

I recently purchased the LaserJet M111a. I felt like I followed all the instructions regarding the setup, however, when I print, nothing happens. My mac, operating on Sequoia, recognizes the printer but that's about the extent of whats going on. Navigating through the information feels like a labyrinth.

Prompts seem to point to a wireless network, but this is definitely not that, nor am I interested in anything wireless.

I thought this was just a simple "I buy a printer, setup said printer, click print" sort of thing. This has become far from that.

Any help troubleshooting would be grand

Hi @Rejas5,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP LaserJet M111a is connected via USB to your Mac but nothing prints, and you don’t want to use wireless. Let’s go step by step to get it working.

Check USB Connection

Ensure the printer is directly connected to the Mac via USB, not through a hub.

Try a different USB port or cable if available.

Make sure the printer is powered on (check the power light).

Reset the Printer

Turn off the printer, unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.

Install / Reinstall Drivers

Go to HP Software and Driver Downloads → Enter LaserJet M111a → select your macOS version.

Download HP Easy Start or the full driver package (not AirPrint, if you want full functionality).

Run the installer and follow prompts to add the printer.

Add the Printer in macOS

Open System Settings → Printers & Scanners → Add Printer.

Your M111a should appear under Default.

Select it, then choose Use: HP LaserJet M111a from the dropdown (not AirPrint if you installed the full driver).

Check Print Queue / Jobs

Open System Settings → Printers & Scanners → Select M111a → Open Print Queue.

Make sure there are no stalled jobs. Clear any stuck jobs, then try printing a test page.

Test from Another App

Try printing a simple document from TextEdit or Preview to rule out app-specific issues.

USB & Permissions Check

macOS sometimes blocks printer drivers on first install.

Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Allow HP software if prompted.

Restart the Mac after allowing the software.

Optional: Reset Printing System

If it still doesn’t print: System Settings → Printers & Scanners → Right-click (or Ctrl+click) → Reset printing system…

This removes all printers and allows a clean reinstall of the M111a.

I hope this helps.
