Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 11

I recently bought a new IBM Thinkpad, and installed the Laserjet mfp 137 printer driver, but i cannot access the scanner. So I downloaded the full software solution from HP but when I try to install, I get the message that the printer is not found. Which is odd since I can print and the printer is listed on the computer's list of printers.  My goal is to be able to scan.  This was no problem on my old Thinkpad.  How to proceed?

Hi @Sam1213455,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. It sounds like your HP LaserJet MFP 137 is printing fine, but the scanner is not detected on your new Windows 11 ThinkPad, even after installing the full software package. This looks like due to driver mismatchesWindows 11 compatibility, or missing scan services.

1. Use the Full Feature Software (Not Just the Basic Driver)

Make sure you downloaded the full software solution from HP’s official site: 👉 HP LaserJet MFP 137 – Full Software Solution

If the installer says "printer not found", even though printing works, it may be using a universal print driver, which does not support scanning

2. Manually Add the Scanner

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer > Remove device.
  • Then go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners > Add a printer or scanner.
  • Wait for Windows to detect the printer again and choose “The printer I want isn’t listed” if needed.
  • Select Add a local printer and choose the correct driver manually.

3. Check Windows Services

Make sure the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running:

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
  • Right-click > Start (or Restart if already running).

4. Try the HP Smart App

Sometimes the HP Smart app can detect the scanner even when the full software fails: 👉 HP Laser MFP 137fnw Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

5. Use Windows Fax and Scan

  • Press Win + S, search for Windows Fax and Scan.
  • Try scanning from there. If it doesn’t detect the scanner, the driver is likely incomplete.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
