I have an old LaserJet 1022 that seems to have just DISAPPEAERED from my list of installed printers. It's been fine all this time, but now it's not listed at all. I checked the connections and the USB cable is secure on both ends. But even if it were loose, I'd think it would show in Settings as "Off-line". But it's not there at all, as if it never existed. I tried to re-detect it, but my PC is not seeing it. There are no error lights or conditions on the printer itself. The PC is running Windows 11 and has all the latest drivers and updates. I know this is an old printer and probably not supported anymore. But I just find it strange that it would just VANISH like that. Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. 😊

Dear BeemerBiker,
Thank you for your suggestion. I actually did try that and it didn't help. But I did finally get it resolved by manually reinstalling the printer driver, so it's all good now. I'm not sure why I didn't think of that in the first place. I guess I was just so baffled as to how it completely disappeared in the first place. Anyway, thank you once again for your help. I do appreciate it. 😃

I occasionally have the same problem with a USB label printer. I happens when the printer is accidently turned off or disconnected from the USB. Try turning it off, unplugging the USB, turn it on and then plug it back into the USB.
My iPhone is worse. If I accidently unplug it while browsing it's photos on the PC, i have to plug it into a different USB port before the folder shows up again in the file manager.

I am glad you got it working. Possibly the drivers you downloaded were newer than the ones on your system and had a fix for the problem.
I have noticed that some USB applications download a USB driver that is not compatible with other devices. I found this out when I tried an iPhone mirroring recorder app. It recorded a facetime call capturing both video and audio from both parties. It worked, but iTunes did not as their USB driver was not compatible with Bonjour. I had to not only uninstall the app but had to restore the original USB driver using Windows rollback.
