Added my LaserJet MFP M234DW printer connected via WiFi on my Chromebook. The printer was detected without issue and successfully added in Chrome OS. The problem is that there is no option for two-sided printing, despite the printer having duplexing capability which works fine in Windows, iOS via Apple AirPrint, and Android. My other printers with duplex capability have a checkbox for two-sided printing under Print > More Options in Chrome. There is no such checkbox for this printer. It's as if the printer's duplexing capability isn't being correctly detected by Chrome OS, perhaps because the printer definition file is screwed up? Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks!

Hi @cinergi,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand how frustrating it must be to have duplex printing not work on your Chromebook, especially when it functions fine on other devices. Let’s see if we can resolve this issue together.
- Have you tried printing from a different app or document on your Chromebook to see if the issue is specific to one program or content?
- Is your Chromebook and the printer running the latest software updates? Sometimes an update can resolve compatibility issues.
- Have you checked the printer's settings directly on the device (through its web interface) to ensure duplex printing is enabled?
Let's try these steps.
- Check Duplex Setting in Printer Settings: Access the printer's web interface by entering the printer’s IP address into your Chromebook’s browser. Ensure that duplex printing (two-sided printing) is enabled in the printer settings.
- Update Printer Drivers: Make sure that your Chromebook has the most up-to-date printer drivers. You can try removing and re-adding the printer to your Chromebook. This can force the system to detect the correct settings for your printer.
- Manually Set Duplex Printing in Chrome: When you go to print, click on More Settings and see if there’s an option for “Two-sided” under the print dialog. If it's missing, check the Print Settings and make sure the option for duplex printing is enabled there.
- Test with Google Cloud Print (if available): If your printer is compatible with Google Cloud Print, try enabling it on both your Chromebook and the printer. Sometimes using this method resolves certain printing issues by bypassing local driver settings.
- Reset the Printer: As a last resort, reset your printer to factory settings and then set it up again on your Chromebook. This can help fix any incorrect configuration that might be affecting duplex printing.
