Thanks for the reply. That doesn't seem to work. This model has the touch screen. I've tried holding down the location of those buttons when I power on - as a matter of fact, I've also tried various combinations of X, Back, Left, Right buttons during power on and none of them seem to make any difference.

Poked around over at reddit and found this

Press and hold the lower right quadrant of the touchscreen, keep the quadrant depressed as you turn the product on.
When the ‘Permanent Storage Init’ message appears on the display, release the button.

I saw those as well. I also saw the ones where HP support told the user that they would send them instructions in personal messages. That's what I was hoping would happen on this since none of the publicly available options have worked.

I do not have any secret or inside info on HP products. The ones that do are "agents".
One problem with hidden or secret reset procedures is that some really deep resets will ask that the user put the original setup cartridges into the printer. These cartridges are usually long gone and even if the were not trashed they would be empty and useless.
Try calling support and ask for technical advice for removing passwords. Possibly the instructions are good but the finger is not exactly on the correct "hidden" icon and that is why it fails.

I flagged your post for a moderator to look at. Maybe a secret agent will show up.
