Envy 5540 All In One
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My new Win10 64bit build must have automatically updated the printer driver for HP Envy 5540. Now I can only print in black and white from laptop, even though other devices still can print in color. The Print Preferences dialog box to allow toggle between Color or Black and White is no longer anywhere to be found. This results in only black white printing as default. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 7 times, used Print/Scan doctor and print troubleshooting. The only comment I've read that seems to hold the key is that this is a known issue and I should revert back to Win7 driver. However, HP support page only offers the same version 40.11 from April 2017 148.7 MB whether I select Win10 64 or Win7 64. WHERE DO I GET THE OLDER WIN 7 VERSION THAT WORKED?

Hi,

Try following below version of the HP Print and Scan Doctor Utility by selecting your printer:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

Be sure to restart your PC and allow the utility to complete the process, then check for any difference.

Please let me know the results,

Shlomi
