Hi @LauraTC,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e needs to be updated so it works correctly with Windows 11. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this and how to update.

Check Windows 11 compatibility

The OfficeJet Pro 8028e is fully compatible with Windows 11.

No hardware changes are needed, only driver and software updates.

Download HP Smart app

Go to the Microsoft Store and install the HP Smart app.

This app manages drivers, updates, and printing functions on Windows 11.

Update printer drivers

Visit HP’s support site for the OfficeJet Pro 8028e.

Download and install the latest “Full Feature Software and Drivers” package for Windows 11.

Connect printer to Wi‑Fi or USB

Ensure the printer is connected to your Wi‑Fi network or directly via USB cable.

A stable connection is required for driver installation and updates.

Run Windows Update

Open Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.

Windows will automatically install any additional HP printer drivers if needed.

Update printer firmware

In the HP Smart app, go to Printer Settings → Advanced Settings → Update Printer.

Keeping firmware current ensures compatibility with Windows 11 features.

Print a test page

After installation, print a test page from Windows or the HP Smart app.

This confirms the printer and drivers are working correctly.

I hope this helps.
