When I tried to install my new printer at the 123hpcom site, I was immediately connected to CHAT
After texting with CHAT I was told a technician would call me back
When tech called me back he got access (through AnyDesk) to my computer
Said I did not have a private server and he could not install unless I purchased the firewall download he had to sell
I told him I could not afford it and he advised me not to purchase firewall security through Macafee, etc
I have never had this happen and am wondering if this was legitimately HP tech or a scam of sorts

Hi
@pinkyj wrote:When I tried to install my new printer at the 123hpcom site,
This is not a HP page!
The correct HP page is: 123.hp.com
Kind Regards

HP will not try to sell you all sorts of things if you connect for support. There are a never ending line of websites that popup with easily confused URLs and pirated HP content that makes them look legitimate, but they are not. HP works diligently to squash these parasites as soon as they are aware of them but the whole process is an online equivalent of whack-a-mole. Hopefully you did not provide any credit card or banking information. If you downloaded any remote software to enable them to assist you, uninstall it immediately. You should also run a check with a program like Malwarebytes. I have also escalated your post to the moderators and someone from HP may reach out to you for more details.
