I was the person who first raised this issue.

 

I have followed all the posts and tried all the solutions offered, and have found the one offered above by Wynaptref to enter the IP address etc worked! I used the same technique for both my old Lenovo X201 and the much newer Lenovo MiiX 320. I removed the printer first through control panel, used the technique but did choose to replace the printer driver, just in case the one still on the PCs was defective.

Thank you - one less piece of wiring required to connect my laptop to the printer!
