List of print apps on this printer could not be updated. Try again later.

Just purchased and set up this new printer (HP OfficeJet PRO 7740 wide format) and the message comes up every time I print: "List of print apps on this printer could not be updated. Try again later."  What can I do about this?

Print Apps message on printer

Not sure -- Perhaps the message is related to how the printer is connected to your network.

Might be as simple as Restarting your router, computer, and printer.

EWS – Browser – Tray and Paper Management

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Model Dependent:  Advanced section

Click Apply to save changes

Printer - Firmware

Normally, the printer takes care of its Firmware updates.

You can certainly check and manually update if needful.

Printer - Web Services

Some of the supported activities require that the printer be not just on your home / office network; the printer must also be connected to Web Services.

Web Services is used to connect the printer to the Internet in general with the added "bonus" of having to connect to HP Services at the end of that journey.  Web Services then recognizes the printer and hands it to whatever service is "next".  For example, Web Services might hand your printer to ePrint, Instant Ink, HP+, or certain Cloud services.

Printer Applications

In general, printer applications aside from those inbuilt on the printer are accessible using other means.

For example, "Printables" used to be a feature of the printer -- this neat service has been moved to its own website.

Two ways to try “HP Printables” (Replacement for Print Apps)

Open HP Smart Windows or HP Smart Mobile application

Click on the tile for Printables

OR

Open your Browser > Open the HP Printables Website

Note:  The website might take a while to fully load / open.

Select / Click on a project for adults, children, learning, fun...

Printer - Software

If not done...

At some point you will need the full driver printer software installed.

For example, the software should be installed for printing A3 AND the Printer Properties should be set to use the HP software as opposed to the Microsoft IPP / Class print drivers.

Printer - Printer Software

HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.  The full driver adds at least two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant and HP Scan. If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver. No Sign-in required.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.
