Loading software for smart tank 7005 Allington one onto laptop running win 8.1 64 bit. Runs most of the way, then get error message " cannot delete out put file", but it then carries on loading. At the end of it the scanner works. However cannot print! Have successfully loaded all the software onto pc win 10 and android phone.

Hi @MLN42,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you are encountering a specific issue while loading the software for your Smart Tank 7005 All-in-One printer on a laptop running Windows 8.1 64-bit. The error message "cannot delete output file" suggests that there might be a problem with file permissions or the file being in use during the installation process.
Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Run the Installer as Administrator: Right-click on the installation file and choose "Run as administrator." This ensures that the installer has the necessary permissions to modify files on your system.
- Temporarily Disable Antivirus/Firewall: Sometimes, security software can interfere with the installation process. Temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall before running the installer and see if the issue persists.
- Clear Temp Folder: Clear the temporary files on your system, as the installation might be getting stuck due to conflicts with temporary files. You can do this by typing %temp% in the Windows search bar, selecting all files in the temporary folder, and deleting them.
- Install in Safe Mode: Try installing the software in Safe Mode. Safe Mode loads only essential drivers and might help in identifying if another application or driver is causing the issue.
- Check Disk Space: Ensure that you have sufficient disk space on the drive where you are installing the software.
- Update Windows: Make sure that your Windows 8.1 installation is up-to-date. Sometimes, system updates can resolve compatibility issues.
- Check for Background Processes: Make sure no other applications or processes are using the printer-related files during the installation. You can check this using the Task Manager.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
