After a few weeks of doing battle everyday, searching for a solution to reinstall my 9010 series Officejet Pro printer I finally found the solution...!
The only thing you'll get from HP, no matter what you do is them leading you to the "Smart App" installer, which fails again and again to reinstall the printer. If you try to reinstall the printer using "Devices and Printers > Add a Printer", you find the 9010 series is not in the list of printers available to install, and Windows Update fails to update the list.
A pretty frustrating situation, as HP will not provide the drivers to manually download so you can have use of your printer again.
The solution:
Download the drivers that HP used to provide from a 3rd party website. Then use the "Devices and Printers > Add a Printer" in your OS to "Add a New Printer". Then tell it "Have Disk", and direct it to the Drivers folder in the folder you downloaded and extracted. Bam...! A normal install, just like in the good old days, before all this web based "Smart App" nonsense came along making it impossible to get your printer reinstalled when something happens and you lose your ability to print, as I did a couple weeks ago. .
Download the "HP-OfficeJet-Pro-9015e-Full-Feature-Driver-and-Software-for-Windows-7-8-8.1-10-and-11.exe" file from https://printerdrivers.com/hp-officejet-pro-9015e-driver/ It's a self-extracting .exe file, and will create a folder with the same name, which includes the "Driver" folder that contains the OJ901x64.msi file that you need to finally get the install done.
All the Best...! 😉
