Hello, I am trying to connect my HP Deskjet 2032 to my laptop to print. I need the IP address but I don’t know how to find it. My laptop isn’t finding the printer even tho I have it plugged into my laptop.

Hi @Brayden4521,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the HP DeskJet 2032 typically doesn't have built-in wireless connectivity, which means it likely doesn't have an IP address. This model generally connects to a computer via USB.

Since your laptop isn’t finding the printer even though it's plugged in, here are a few steps to troubleshoot and ensure a proper connection:

1. Check USB Connection:

  • Make sure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the laptop.
  • Try using a different USB port or a different cable to rule out any cable issues.

2. Install Drivers and Software:

  • If you haven't installed the drivers yet, visit the HP website and download the drivers for your HP DeskJet 2032.
  • Search for your printer model, download, and install the driver and software package.

3. Check Printer Status:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners on your laptop.
  • Click on Add a Printer or Scanner and let your computer search for the connected printer.
  • If the printer doesn't show up, click The printer that I want isn't listed, and follow the troubleshooting steps suggested by Windows.

4. Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • In Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, click on Printer, then click Run the troubleshooter to detect and resolve issues.

Once you've confirmed the printer is installed and connected, you should be able to print directly from your laptop without needing an IP address.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
