My HP LaserJet 252dw stopped printing on my Mac.  I am running Sequoia on my Mac.

There's a message that states "Expired Certificate" but the expiration date was 2023.  All of a sudden it won't print and can't download drivers from HP Smart because the M252dw is not listed.

What are next steps?

Hi @beeptrobes,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP LaserJet Pro M252dw printing issue on macOS!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Printer Connectivity:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your network. If it uses a wireless connection, verify that it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

Update macOS and Drivers:

  • Ensure your macOS is updated to the latest version as updates can fix compatibility issues.
  • Visit the HP website to check if newer drivers are available for your printer model: HP Software and Drivers.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Remove the existing HP printer drivers from your Mac.
  • Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners," select your printer model, and click the minus (-) button to remove it.
  • Try reinstalling using built-in macOS drivers by clicking the plus (+) button and adding the printer again.

Configure Printer and Network Settings:

  • Check the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) settings for network configuration and any expired certificates. Update or renew certificates if needed.
  • Within the EWS, look for any firmware updates and install them to resolve potential certificate issues.

Use Alternative Software:

  • If HP Smart does not list your printer, use the "HP Easy Admin" tool, which might support driver download for your model.

Reset Printing System:

  • Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners", right-click in the printer list, choose "Reset printing system" to clear the entire printer and scanner list and try re-adding your printer.

I hope this helps.
