M402n install driver error "an install operation took too long to execute. This is a fatal error....

I keep running into a fatal error when trying to install the printer driver. Please see the image below for reference for error message.

I currently do not have any printer installed on my Windows 11 system. I am connecting the printer via USB when prompted to do so during the installation process. I do not have a network connection or Bluetooth available for installing the printer driver, so I would prefer to use a USB connection.

I downloaded the driver file HP_LJ_Pro_M402-M403_PCL6_v3_Modern_Full_Soln_19135.exe directly from the HP Support website here https://support.hp.com/si-en/drivers/hp-laserjet-pro-m402-m403-n-dn-series/7458627

I have tried installing the driver multiple times and have also restarted both the computer and the printer. However, I receive the same “Fatal Error” message each time, and the installation cannot be completed. My Windows 11 computer is fully up to date.

Could someone please advise me on how to resolve this issue and successfully install the printer driver using the USB connection?

Please install the basic driver from the next link:

Then you may need to Add printer from Windows > Settings > Printers > Add new printer.

Hi @ferRX Thank you for replying. I downloaded and extracted the file you shared. But when I got to Printers & Scanners in Win 11 settings. I am not able to add the printer. I am not finding what you shared "Then you may need to Add printer from Windows > Settings > Printers > Add new printer."

I also followed the installation instructions steps here: https://support.hp.com/si-en/drivers/swdetails/hp-laserjet-pro-m402-m403-n-dn-series/7458627/swItemI... and I am not finding the wizard and adding the hard disk. Windows 11 interface looks different from the instructions.

1. Ok, if that driver does not work, then try to install with:

>> HP Universal Print Driver

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/UPD/upd-pcl6-win11-x64-8.2.0.26819.zip

2. Restart your computer.

3. Then install printer following steps from the next video:
