HP LaserJet Pro M501dn

We are an authorized service provider and we had to change a formatter on an M501dn and now the serial number is all X's and we are looking for instructions on how to update the serial number to match the chassis on this printer. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Enable FTP printing in EWS first.

Edit the PJL command with the serial number you want and send the file with FTP.

As an authorized service provider  you should have access to the Troubleshooting manual which shows that you can set the serial number through the service menu of the printer.

Thank you so much that worked like a charm. I was also wondering if there was a way to edit that PJL file to also reset page counts on the printer. If not it's not that big of a deal it's just a thought. I do appreciate the help with resetting the serial number though. Again thank you .

Try instead the serial number command:

@PJL SET PAGES=0

Keep all other commands, the 0 is the page count you can change
