Hi,
danke!

Hi & thanks,
unfortunately my english is not goog enough for such a complicated problem... 😕
And I saw other german threads here as well? Or am I here at the wrong place for support for us german clients?
therefore an information reduced version (and hope I am able to understand answers 😟 ) :
A relative of mine bought that printer for to connect it to her PC and print via USB cable and as well just make copies without using any computer.
No internet and nothing, so really very easy without any aspects that could cause any problems at all.
But the printer refuses to do anything, not even copies are possible, a yello ! is blinking any time the printer is switched on. And the display is empty, therefore I don't know what's the problem.
Even the built in driver of Windows doesn't work: If I use this one printer jobs appear in the job window and vanish after the usual time but the printer doesn't do anything (obviously giving Windows the feed back the job was printed). But the Windows printer jobs title bar shows a " - Achtung" after the printer name.
I spent so much time for nothing, I use printers since about 40 years now and never ever in my life had such problems simply for to make a printer ready to work, I even hat several hp printers over the years.
But why can other german people post their threads in their own language???
thanks

Hi @menmic,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.
I see that you are facing an issue with your printer.
To understand the issue and help you, please share the details listed below:
Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain on the printer.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
Make a copy on the printer standalone and let me know if you have the same issue. (Place an original document on the scanner glass and make a copy to confirm hardware failure)
- Error messages (if any) on the unit. Please share an image if possible.
- When was the last time your printer was working fine?
- Were there any changes made to your printer recently?
- May I know to which device are you trying to connect your printer to eg: Windows PC, Mac, or Smartphone (Android or iPhone)?
Note: Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
Take care and have a great day ahead!

Hi,
thanks for that post - but did you read my text before replying?
Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain on the printer.
Oh boy!!!
This seems to be hard work?
And it is a brand new device, why do customers have to do that work?
I will do that but as you know it is not my printer but the one of a relative of mine. And I'm not able to go there before monday, but the person will go into night shift on monday for one week, so it will take more than one week to make that strange work possible...
I hoped, I only had to give that person a phone call, telling, what to do to make the printer work.
That person is only customer and never took anything out of any printer and won't be able to do that before practicing with somebody showing how to do that...
- When was the last time your printer was working fine?
As described the printer is brand new and never did anything - that red ! is blinking since the printer was switched on the first time.
- Were there any changes made to your printer recently?
We didn't do anything with the printer exept switching it on and off and pressing the copy button several times.
- May I know to which device are you trying to connect your printer to eg: Windows PC, Mac, or Smartphone (Android or iPhone)?
As I described it is a Windows PC connected via USB cable - I even tried the standard Windows driver for the printer.
thanks...

Hi again,
there will be an unexpected possibility to do thar tomorrow, but I have one question:
There are points 1 to 5 and then a line break and then this text:
"Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges"
This is about the same as what is in the points 1 to 5 above that - is it really ment I should do all that after point 5?
thanks

Hi,
for I did'nt get an answer I did that all which means I rather did things twice:

Yes, same thing:
Whenever that printer is turned on the yello ! is blinking.
When trying to make a default copy You don't get a copy but a print of an error description in english language (and the scanner doesn't do anything, the printer starts immediately).
No error messages at all, the display is empty.
And I tried the ... button to set copy parameters but that button doesn't respond, nothing happens when pressing it.
I'm going to contact the support directly as suggested before, giving them a link to this thread:

There I am asked to add a product of mine, but as I told this is not my printer. I tried to pretend to own that printer, then I was asked for the S/N. I entered that string and got the message that in my case the S/N wasn't enough, I had to give a P/N as well. But the P/N of that printer ist not accepted.
I tried 7 other of that all in all 9 strings shown on stickers inside the printer but none of them was accepted and it is not possible to go anywhere further to reach the support, the form is locked without an accepted P/N.
I had to cancel the whole procedure...
what a mess...
what a waste of time...

Hi @menmic
I am volunteer here in Printers area for HP Community.
1. Because the "Laserjet M140we" is a HP Plus printer model you have the option to call to the next number for HP Support:
2. Also to let you know that all the printers ended with "e" are HP Plus printers.
- And all HP Plus printer models must need to be connected to Internet.
3. More information on that
4. HP Plus printers requirements
5.
Probably you may want to return your printer and select another Laserjet printer but without the "e" .
6.
Then you will be able to use that printer with a USB cable and also without Internet, for example:
- LaserJet M140w - without the "e"
Best Regards,
