I received this printer from a family member to try to fix it. It's stuck on initializing when starting up. I've tried hard and cold resets, and multiple known good usb cables to try to at least get it recognized on my pc but I'm unable to with it in initializing. I've tried to click the home, back, and help buttons to try to pull up a menu or cancel out of it but it still is stuck. Is there any other way to reset it to factory or even upgrade the firmware without having access to the printer menu or a connected PC? Are there any other recommended troubleshooting steps? I've also tried starting it with the toner in and out, paper trays secured, etc. Everything looks fine and practically brand new. Thanks for any assistance or recommendations.
**Update** I was able to reset it to factory by starting it up while pressing the bottom right corner. Unfortunately it's still stuck at initializing. Is there a way to update the firmware without it being recognized in windows?

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that your printer is stuck on initializing, I am glad to assist you.
You might have to perform an NVRAM reset on the printer to fix this issue.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.
I hope this helps resolve this issue completely.
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
Cheers.
