Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Recently e upgraded from a MFP M477 to laserjet MFP M479 fdw tried installing the the new driver but the driver itself doesn't seem to detect the new printer.

I work out at sea so internet is not readily available.

The network system is a closed system, though I'm installing the drivers using admin Id and password.

I'm using the USB plug and play option, even though it's connected the software still prompts me to connect the cable

The system I'm installing it on doesn't have internet access.

Though when I open a word document or an excel sheet it lets me access the printer and print.

I've installed the drivers a couple of times to no success.

Please advise.

If you can print from  office applications the printer is installed somewhere. What printer does Word show as using. It is possible it is using the old 477 instance. If you can get ahold of the USB UPD that might work better for you.

Thank you for your prompt reply

As suggested I managed to download and install a UPD,

The driver has detected my printer and lets me print my documents through word, excel and pdf, my only concern is that it doesn't let me scan or rather there is no scanning software installed, scanning documents is quite an important part of job required to be done.
