I have the MFP m577 and m578 Enterprise printers at work with latest firmware update.
When I connect an 8gb USB thumbdrive I get an error saying "Attached storage device is not formatted for use with this product"
Yes I already enabled print from USB and I have tried powering down, unplugging, and powering back up.
I have tried other thumbdrive in FAT and FAT32 filesystem and they all give same error.
I want to be able to print pdfs and pictures from USB and also be able to save scans to the USB.
Please tell me the trick to get it working or update your firmware so it allows printing from USB

What types of usb sticks are you using? I have found that cheap no-name products are hit and miss. What happens if you plug the stick into the back usb port? You can also update the firmware using the embedded web server.

I've tried PNY, Toshiba, and Sandisk usb sticks in both the front usb port and rear port with same results - USB Error.
I couldn't update the firmware with the USB so I installed HP Smart App and was able to update through that.
